About the Tubac Nature Center

The mission of the Tubac Nature Center is to provide education  and information for  enhancing appreciation and conservation of the natural environment along the Santa Cruz  River in Tubac, Arizona. The Tubac Nature Center is a nonprofit corporation under Arizona law and has tax exempt status under Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c) (3).

A small group of nature center enthusiasts first met in November 2017 forming a Steering Committee.  The organization operated initially as an educational project under the umbrella of Friends of the Santa Cruz River (FOSCR).  In October, 2019, Tubac Nature Center was incorporated as a membership organization and received its own tax exempt status from the IRS.  In November, 2019 a membership meeting was held appointing the Board of Directors.  On November 15, 2019, the Board of Directors appointed the officers, created committees, and began to operate as the policy making body for the organization. The Board of Directors, Officers, and Committee Chairs are listed below.

In January 2019, Tubac Nature Center began a series of walks, talks, and discussions that continue from September through April.  It opened its doors to the public in February, 2019 with the exhibits in the nature center partially finished.  The exhibits were completed in October, 2019.  The hours of operation of the nature center may change from time to time, so check the Home Page for the listing of current hours.

Tubac Nature Center is located in Room 2B at the Tubac Community Center, 50 Bridge Road, in Tubac.  Our mail address is P.O Box 5123, Tubac AZ 85646.  We are located near the Anza Trail, which meanders close to the Santa Cruz River and runs north and south the length of Santa Cruz County.
